Resources for Proposal Writers

The selection criteria for ATP proposals are fairly rigorous and the competition for ATP awards is strong. As a result, many companies, both large and small, link with other organizations that can help them develop solid business and technical plans needed for a competitive ATP proposal. Although ATP cannot refer people directly to commercial enterprises, we can suggest that you contact one or more State programs which will refer you to such resources. Resources which you might be able to find through a State program include:
  • University business schools that can help develop marketing and business plans;
  • Contacts with State and private venture capital funds or other sources of funding;
  • Intellectual property rights expertise; and
  • Consultants who have experience writing ATP proposals.

If you think that you might need one or more of these resources, contact the programs offered in your State and ask them specifically for help accessing the resource(s) of interest. If your organization offers one or more of these types of resources, then make sure that the State programs know about you so that they can refer potential clients to you.

If your State cannot provide you with the kind of help you need, try accessing the resources you desire through programs run by other, nearby States. Contact information for relevant State programs is available through the State Science and Technology Institute's website (http://www.ssti.org/states.htm). In addition, programs in States which have seen relatively little ATP money are listed below.
